Component Release QA FAQ
Does the plugin require every possible variant combination?
No. Only the complete combinations you explicitly enter are required. It does not generate the Cartesian product of all axes. A future custom value is allowed even if no current variant uses it.
Are values normalized?
No. Hover and hover, leading or trailing spaces, full-width characters, and different Unicode sequences remain distinct. Optional case hints do not change matching.
What can I select?
One local Component Set in Figma Design. Its direct child Components are inspected. Pages, entire files, remote libraries, instances, and standalone Component scans are outside this version’s scope.
What happens if Figma cannot provide complete data?
The report marks the inspection incomplete and does not turn an uncertain absence into a confirmed Missing error. If duplicate values make Figma’s metadata API fail, the report shows Incomplete. Resolve the conflict in Figma and re-scan; the plugin does not infer values from layer names.
Is Not configured a successful inspection?
No. Add the required combinations and run again. Present also does not mean the entire design system is defect-free; it means the specified combination exists.
What is free, and what does purchase unlock?
Setup, QA, all diagnostic counts, the first five diagnostic details, and named profiles are free with no time or usage limit. The five details can include Present, not just problems. Purchase unlocks every diagnostic detail and full CSV export. The planned launch price is US$10 one-time, without a subscription; confirm the price shown by Figma checkout.
Do profiles sync, and can I load them into another set?
Profiles stay in Figma clientStorage on this device under this Plugin ID. There is no cloud or team sync. Load profile is explicit, never automatic; saved and current axis names must match exactly. A profile is not tied permanently to a Figma file or node ID. Quality Rules are session-only and are not saved in profiles.
Can I rename or delete a profile?
Yes. Select the saved profile, enter a name and use Rename profile, or use Delete profile and confirm. Update profile replaces its requirements. Names must be unique. The plugin limits storage to 50 profiles and about 2MB of its own profile document. Invalid or unsupported records are excluded from use while the original data is retained; contact support if you cannot remove them through the UI.
Why is a description warning only a warning?
Figma’s description API may return missing or stale data. The plugin accepts either a nonempty description or descriptionMarkdown when it can retrieve one. Check warnings manually; it does not judge the quality of your writing.
What is in a CSV, and how do I open it?
The CSV includes inspection time, set name and ID, completion state, result type, severity, exact combination, target node ID, description, and rule ID. It is UTF-8 with a BOM, comma-separated, and double-quoted. A dangerous spreadsheet formula prefix is neutralized with an apostrophe. Your importer may display that protective apostrophe. If necessary, use a spreadsheet’s import command rather than automatic opening. Mac Excel rendering has not yet been verified.
Why did my previous result or CSV button disappear?
Changing the selection, required inputs, Quality Rules, or design invalidates the old report. Re-scan, confirm conditions, and Run QA. This prevents exporting outdated results.
Does the plugin change my design or upload it?
It does not modify design content or send it to a publisher-operated server. Jump buttons change only selection and viewport. Profiles are saved locally and CSV is exported when you request it. Figma processes official checkout under its own policies. See the Privacy page for details.
Which language and hosts are supported?
The current UI combines English section/result labels with Japanese instructions. Figma Desktop has been tested on macOS. Web host message validation is covered by automated mocks, but actual Figma Web operation is not yet verified. If this affects your workflow, try the free preview before purchase.
